What kind of systems are there ?
Grid-tie systems are interconnected to the utility network. Wired with a synchronizing inverter, grid-tie systems feed surplus electricity back into the local utility. The utility acts as an infinite storage system, eliminating the need for batteries. A synchronous Solar Panel Inverter converts panel-generated direct current (DC) into appliance-friendly alternating current and provides continuous flow of electricity from the panels when available or the grid when the panels aren't producing any usable electricity.

Grid Tie systems can turn back your power meter ! If your solar panel system generates more energy than you consume, the power company is required by law to buy back the power from you at the same price that you are charged for power !!!

Off-grid systems are stand-alone systems designed for RV, cabin, remote, backup and portable power applications. Because they do not rely on the electrical grid, off-grid systems require batteres to offset lesser power production due to prolonged periods of inclement weather and a charge controller to regulate battery operation. How long will they last?
The panels are guaranteed to produce electricity at rated capacity for 25 years. After 25 years the capacity will drop 20% , however the panels will produce electricity and last up to 45 years!

Will it work in Michigan?
Yes your solar panels will work in Michigan. One of the most well-known misconceptions is that you must live in a sunny area to have solar be cost effective. That is simply not true. While you may produce more electricity, in areas that receive more sun light, areas such as Michigan receive plenty of sun light to power homes and businesses throughout the year. What happens when panels are covered with snow?
The panels will not produce any electricity when covered with snow, however since they are installed with atilt facing the sun and have a glass surface, snow will melt off these with the first sunshine.

What about clouds & fog?
On these days the panels will continue to produce power at about 30 % of normal rate.
