Q: My air conditioner cools the main level of my home but the upstairs is still warm. Why?
A: New furnaces are now two stage and two stage variable speed. Variable speed actually adjusts and ramps up speed until the static pressure in the trunk line is equal. This means the supply at the end of the trunk and the supply near the furnace is the same. We also suggest that you run the blower on a continuous basis so supply air is constant and the hot upstairs is within a couple of degrees of the main floor. By the way, these are dc motors and use 1/10 the electricity of a standard split capacitor motor.
Q: Why is my furnace blower so noisy?
A: Furnace blowers need cleaning and oiling every five years or even more often. Kelley Brothers offers clean and checks at different times of year but most people don't think of servicing the blower until fall. When running central air your cfm is around 1200 to 2000 cfm depending on size. Heating is only 450 cfm to 650 cfm depending on size.
Q: My utility bills have been going up and up in the last few years and now they are so high I don't know what is normal. Can you help?
A: The furnace is the only appliance in the house that can actually pay for itself in utility bill savings. If your gas bill is $150 month, on average that's $1800 year. Your savings with a new 95% furnace would be about $800 year or $8000 for ten years.
Q: My son has allergies. I spend so much time running to the doctor and he doesn't feel well enough to participate in some school activities. What should I do?
A: Kelley Brothers carries a complete line of Aprilaire controls and products to treat the air you're breathing in your home. Automatic humidifiers can add moisture to the home and you will feel better even at lower temperatures. UV Germicidal lamps and electronic air cleaners kill airborne bacteria and viruses. Hi density media filters take out animal dander and pollens. We will address these issues at every installation.
Q: Every year my sinuses get worse and I feel stuffed up all winter. Is there anything you can do to help?
A: Yes! Adding an automatic humidifier and/or air cleaner can help with these problems. When you are heat your home, you are drying out your body, your wood floors, carpets and upholstery. Your sinuses are adjusting to the lack of humidity and/or an allergy.
Q: My house has hot and cold spots; my family room is off the back of the house and is on a slab. We spend most of our time in that room and yet it is the coldest room in the house. What can be done to change this?
A: Variable speed is adjusting constantly to ductwork and makes up for inadequate supply to certain rooms. A continuously running blower will make these rooms much more comfortable.
Q: Our church is a beautiful old church but we can't have weddings in the summer as it is too hot and no one wants to rent it out. Can you help?
A: Kelley Brothers specializes in churches and has installed mini-splits and city-multi systems in old buildings. We maintain the old charm and beauty while upgrading the building for comfort. We also take care of multi controls for buildings that are having trouble with rooms that don't heat or cool properly.
Q: We really like our baseboard heating system but can't have central air conditioning with that system. Is there another alternative?
A: Kelley Brothers is a "Mr Slim" dealer by Mitsubishi Electric. These mini-split systems are extremely quiet (about 22 db - inaudible beyond five feet) and can be installed up on the wall. We can even install more than one console (up to three) on one condenser. We also install these in commercial applications -computer rooms etc.
Q: My husband wants to work on our classic car in the winter but gets too cold. We don't want to heat up the garage all day just for a couple hours in the evening. What should we do?
A: Kelley Brothers has a complete line of wall furnaces and unit heaters. These can be direct vented and can heat up fast and run on either lp gas or natural gas. Unit heaters are also great for pole barns and commercial workshops or light industrial applications.
Q: My central air system needs a charge of refrigerant every year and then when it gets to the hottest part of the season it is out again. Why?
A: The old refrigerant R22 will soon be obsolete. The new equipment we sell often has a 10 year warranty on both parts and labor through the factory policy. This eliminates repair costs to the consumer. New equipment is 30% more efficient than equipment sold even five years ago. |
