Kelley Brothers LC Mini-Splits

Mini-Splits

Kelley Brothers is a Mr Slim Diamond dealer by Mitsubishi Electric. We are also a dealer of the Daiken USA mini-split line and we service and install these units as well.

Mini splits can provide boiler baseboard heat supplements, basement heat alternatives, indoor comfort, and ductless heating and cooling.

If you have boiler or baseboard heat, or no space to run ductwork for a forced air system this may be a perfect solution for your project. These are a perfect solution for adding air conditioning to historical buildings.

These mini-split systems are extremely quiet (about 22 db-inaudible beyond five feet) and can be installed up on the wall. We even have one large system installed at a Wayne State University Library. We can install more than one console (up to three) on one condenser.

These units employ variable speed compressor and blower motor technologies (also called inverter technology) and are very efficient. Up to 17 SEER (qualifies for energy efficiency tax credits).

The best feature of these units is the fact that they are remote controlled mini splits. This will allow you to set the temperature you need for each individual room with a remote controller.

Kelley Brothers have many of these systems installed and operating with satisfied owners. Their larger units can be applied to commercial applications, offices and churches. We also install these in computer rooms, data rooms etc.

About the Commercial Mini-Split Photos:

Grosse Point Presbyterian Church:

Customer goals: Provide air conditioning for the building (70,000 sqft), improve air quality and comfort, eliminate humidity problems in the basement areas and make those usable spaces. Provide cooling for the gym area.

This is an historical building with beautiful limestone construction. Customer was very concerned about disturbing the structure and the architecture of the building and also noise.

Solution:
We came up with a perfect solution: We installed four ductless Mitsubishi "City Multi" variable speed air cooled heat pump systems, with multiple ceiling and wall units for individual areas with their own temperature controls. We also added four energy recover ventilators for providing fresh air into the building and keeping the basement ventilated and dry. The gym was conditioned, using 2 - roof-top gas fired heating and cooling units.

Energy Savings:
Originally the building was heated using a 4 million Btu gas fired boiler. After the installation of the heat pump system the use of the boiler was significantly reduced. The total cost of the utilities after the heat pumps were added did not increase.

What this means is that the owner is able to heat and cool the building for the same price it was previously for heat only! We were able to achieve this with the efficiency of the heat pumps and also utilizing the ability of the heat pump system to move the heat around the building and make maximum use of energy.
